Growing up as a kid, Sunday mornings were almost always dedicated to cartoons in the mornings.  One of the few cartoons that is actually still around and being produced is The Simpsons, one of the all time classic TV shows and comics of any generation.  It has spawned creative one offs, inspired current cartoons, and infinite amounts of pop art.  This is a story where a recreated scene led to internet fame.

On the popular art site, Deviant Art, an artist by the name of spacecoyote recreated many cartoon and animation stills with a manga-realistic touch, giving the characters an entirely new look.  One of her favorite artists to reproduce scenes of was Matt Groening, with her most popular scene of the Simpsons taking on a life of its own.

On January 5th, 2008, spacecoyote submitted this piece to Deviant Art, which in practically no time was the featured art piece on the site, receiving thousands of downloads and nearly two million views to date.  It would soon end up on Digg, as well as ABC News in Australia and many other blogs and websites.  After hearing of this, Bongo Comics, which was created by none other than Matt Groening, offered her a position creating manga style pencil work for a version of the Simpsons.  In addition, 20th Century Fox has even contacted her about potentially working on a relaunch of Futurama.  Not all internet fame is the likes of embarrassing videos (and Paris Hilton, not that her talent is embarrassing).

Here are a few more drawings of spacecoyote, you may find her profile on Deviant Art.
