If the video for Kanye West’s “Welcome To Heartbreak” reminds you of Chairlift’s “Evident Utensil” clip, you’re not alone–Kanye himself recognized the similarity and decided to put the video out far in advance of its single promotion to avoid talk of a rip-off. The videos are pretty similar in that they use a screen dematerializing technique to mesh different images–in this case those being Kanye in a pretty sweet sweater and Kid Cudi helping out on the chorus–but Kanye’s is less of a peyote trip than Chairlift’s.

“Welcome To Heartbreak,” as indicated with the Auto-Tuner, is on Kanye West’s 808s and Heartbreak, which is out now.
